Are you set up right for your height??

Did you know that the footbar can be adjusted backwards and forwards for your height? Make sure you are on the right setting in order to get the best workout for your size!

On both sides of your reformer, below footbar you will find a black ball and several holes for the different height settings.

If you are little like me, you will want your setting to be as close as possible to the carriage and if you are a giant like Nick you will want to choose the setting closest to the platform. For everyone in between there are 5 holes to choose from so you get it right for your size!

Simply pull bot the black balls at the same time, and slide the footbar towards the carriage or the platform and release it into the appropriate hole. Remember which setting your on and make sure your set up correctly each time you train."

When lying on your back with your feet on the bar, your knees should be at a 90 - degree angle. Don’t  be afraid to ask one of our awesone trainers to show you how to adjust the footbar. "

Spin Bike Set Up 101

tumblr_lggaueb4ma1qf6o97o1_400

Spin bikes are designed to fit all shapes, sizes and abilities. Getting your bike set up correctly is one of the most important aspects when taking part in a spin class. You are usually fixed to the bike for at least 45 minutes during a class, if you are in the wrong position it will effect your range of movement, hinder your performance and even cause pain!

STEP 1 - Seat Height
It’s easy to determine the right height—simply place your feet in the toe cages or clip into the pedals and just make sure to keep a little bend (approx 5 degrees) in the knee as the leg is moving round during your pedal stroke. Your knees should not lock out at at any point during the movement.

STEP 2 - Forward/Back Seat Position
Once your height is set sit on the saddle in the riding position, then position the pedals so they’re level with each other, parallel to the floor. Your seat is in the right position when your knee cap is directly above the center of the pedal.

STEP 3 - Handlebar Height
Adjust the handlebars to a position that is comfortable and limits unnecessary strain on your neck and back. If you do suffer from any neck tension or back pain, please let the trainer know prior to the class.

El Kalejito - A Smidgen of Veggie Virtuousness

If you’re going to mix up a batch of drinks for your summer garden parties, why not add a smidgen of veggie virtuousness?

This kale mojito—or Kalejito—from the new cookbook,Fifty Shades of Kale: 50 Fresh & Satisfying Recipes That are Bound to Please.

“The cocktail’s refreshing zing comes from a healthy dose of mintan herb thought to relieve stress, aid digestion…and stimulate the senses,” say the authors, chef Jennifer Iserloh and Drew Ramsey, MD. (Maybe you saw their 90-Second Interval video with him this week?)

And the addition of fresh kale “intensifies its already vibrant green color, making for an elegant, gemlike cocktail that couldn’t be more seductive.” We’d kinda have to agree.

Kalejito
Serves 2

2 teaspoons superfine sugar
4 ounces white rum
½ cup packed torn kale leaves
½ cup packed mint leaves, plus 2 sprigs for garnish
Juice of 2 limes (about ¼ cup)

Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend on high speed. Pour over 2 glasses filled with ice. Garnish with the mint sprigs and serve immediately.
